Return to Answers to Missionary Proofs
The trinity exists in the form of "God the Father," "Jesus the Son," and the "Holy Spirit/Ghost".
Proof:
Deuteronomy 6:4: Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God; the Lord is one.
שְׁמַע, יִשְׂרָאֵל: יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ, יְהוָה אֶחָד
The Hebrew in this verse refers to G-d by His different Names and not as three different manifestations.
Jesus was a prophet like Moses.
Prophecy:
Deuteronomy 18:15-16: (15) A prophet from among you, from your brothers, like me, the Lord, your God will set up for you you shall hearken to him. (16) According to all that you asked of the Lord, your God, in Horeb, on the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not continue to hear the voice of the Lord, my God, and let me no longer see this great fire, so that I will not die."
Proof:
John 5:45-47: (45) Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is [one] who accuses you--Moses, in whom you trust. (46) For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. (47) But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"
John 6:14: Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, "This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world."
The prophet of the future Israel will share Moses’ saintly qualities and was in fact Joshua. This prophecy has already been fulfilled.
Deuteronomy 31:7-8: (7) And Moses called Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, "Be strong and courageous! For you shall come with this people to the land which the Lord swore to their forefathers to give them. And you shall apportion it to them as an inheritance. (8) The Lord He is the One Who goes before you; He will be with you; He will neither fail you, nor forsake you. Do not fear, and do not be dismayed."
Deuteronomy 34:9: And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands upon him. And the children of Israel obeyed him, and they did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
If Jesus was in fact a prophet, he has shown himself to be a false prophet.
Deuteronomy 13:2-4: (2) If there will arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of a dream, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, (3) and the sign or the wonder of which he spoke to you happens, [and he] says, "Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us worship them," (4) you shall not heed the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream; for the Lord, your God, is testing you, to know whether you really love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 18:22: If the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not occur and does not come about, that is the thing the Lord did not speak. The prophet has spoken it wantonly; you shall not be afraid of him.
Mark 7:18-19: (18) So He said to them, "Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, (19) because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, [thus] purifying all foods?"
Leviticus 11:1-2, 44-45: (1) And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, to say to them: (2) Speak to the children of Israel, saying: These are the creatures that you may eat among all the animals on earth… (44) For I am the Lord your God, and you shall sanctify yourselves and be holy, because I am holy, and you shall not defile yourselves through any creeping creature that crawls on the ground. (45) For I am the Lord Who has brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God. Thus, you shall be holy, because I am holy.
God stated that kosher laws were permanent and that the food Jews eat can make them defiled. Jesus taught to leave Hashem and follow false beliefs – thus following false gods.
Thus, Jesus proves himself to be a false prophet.
Matthew 24:1-14: (1) Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. (2) And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (3) Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what [will be] the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" (4) And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. (5) For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. (6) And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet. (7) For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. (8) All these [are] the beginning of sorrows. (9) "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. (10) And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. (11) Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. (12) And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. (13) But he who endures to the end shall be saved. (14) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
What are the signs and wonders before the end times according to Jesus?
The Temple would be destroyed.
There will be rumors of wars.
There will be famines, pestilence, and earthquakes around the world.
Jesus’ followers would be killed.
False prophets will arise.
Lawlessness will abound.
The gospel will be brought to the world.
All of these signs were to occur during the disciples' lifetimes.
Matthew 23:36: Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.
These signs and wonders did not come to pass, which means that Jesus was a false prophet.
Jesus was a prophet like Moses who will prophecy.
Prophecy:
Deuteronomy 18:18: I will set up a prophet for them from among their brothers like you, and I will put My words into his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I command him.
Proof:
John 1:45: Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
John 8:28-29: (28) Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am [He], and [that] I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. (29) And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him."
Acts 3:22: For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you.
Acts 7:37: "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.'"
Deuteronomy 18:22: If the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not occur and does not come about, that is the thing the Lord did not speak. The prophet has spoken it wantonly; you shall not be afraid of him.
Luke 9:27: “But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God."
The kingdom of God never happened. This only proves that Jesus was a false prophet.
Mark 2:23-28: (23) Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. (24) And the Pharisees said to Him, "Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?" (25) But He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: (26) how he went into the house of God [in the days] of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?" (27) And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. (28) Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath."
Jesus ignored the eternal laws of Shabbat and taught others to do the same. He proved himself a false prophet.
Jesus did not always do what pleased G-d.
Notice that in John 8:29 it reads “And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him."
Exodus 20:12: Honor your father and your mother, in order that your days be lengthened on the land that the Lord, your God, is giving you.
Matthew 12:47-49: (47) Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." (48) But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" (49) And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers!
Matthew 10:34-37: (34) "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. (35) For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; (36) and 'a man's enemies will be those of his [own] household.' (37) He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Jesus did not honor his father and mother and taught others to do the same.
Exodus 22:20: And you shall not mistreat a stranger, nor shall you oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Matthew 15:22-26: (22) And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed." (23) But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us." (24) But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (25) Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" (26) But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw [it] to the little dogs."
These are only two examples of Jesus’ sins. Do you call the numerous sins committed by Jesus as always doing things that please G-d?
Jesus took away the curse of the law.
Prophecy:
Deuteronomy 21:22-23 : (22) If a man commits a sin for which he is sentenced to death, and he is put to death, you shall [then] hang him on a pole. (23) But you shall not leave his body on the pole overnight. Rather, you shall bury him on that [same] day, for a hanging [human corpse] is a blasphemy of God, and you shall not defile your land, which the Lord, your God, is giving you as an inheritance.
Proof:
Galatians 3:10-13: (10) For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." (11) But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God [is] evident, for "the just shall live by faith." (12) Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them." (13) Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who hangs on a tree")
We are told to keep the eternal laws.
Galatians 3:10: For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."
This is taken from Deuteronomy 27:26 which reads – Cursed be he who does not uphold the words of this Torah, to fulfill them. And all the people shall say, 'Amen!'
We are told that we must keep the eternal laws of the Torah. Yet, Jesus taught the opposite. Here is just one example.
Leviticus 11:44-45: (44) For I am the Lord your God, and you shall sanctify yourselves and be holy, because I am holy, and you shall not defile yourselves through any creeping creature that crawls on the ground. (45) For I am the Lord Who has brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God. Thus, you shall be holy, because I am holy.
Mark 7:18-19: (18) So He said to them, "Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, (19) because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, [thus] purifying all foods?"
Jehoiachin's righteousness.
Galatians 3:11: But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God [is] evident, for "the just shall live by faith."
This is taken from Habakkuk 2:4 which reads – Behold, it is puffed up-his soul is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.
This chapter is talking about the Babylonian exile. This verse has nothing to do with “living by faith”. It is a prophecy about Jehoiachin and how his righteousness shall stand up for him.
Second Kings 25:27-30: (27) And it was in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Evil-merodach, king of Babylonia, in the year of his coronation, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin, king of Judah and released him from prison. (28) And he spoke with him kindly and placed his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon. (29) And he changed his prison garb, and he ate meals before him regularly all the days of his life. (30) And his meals, regular meals were given him from the king, each day's need in its day, all the days of his life.
Galatians 3:12: Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them."
This is taken from Leviticus 3:5 which reads – And Aaron's descendants shall cause it to [go up in] smoke on the altar, apart from the burnt offering, which is on top of the wood that is on the fire; [it is] a fire offering [with] a pleasing fragrance to the Lord.
As has already been shown above, there is no teaching that one is to “live by faith”.
Non-existent prophecy.
Galatians 3:13: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who hangs on a tree")
This is taken from Deuteronomy 21:22-23: If a man commits a sin for which he is sentenced to death, and he is put to death, you shall [then] hang him on a pole. (23) But you shall not leave his body on the pole overnight. Rather, you shall bury him on that [same] day, for a hanging [human corpse] is a blasphemy of God, and you shall not defile your land, which the Lord, your God, is giving you as an inheritance.
First, the reason for the “hanging on a pole” is because the person committed a sin for which he is given the death penalty.
Second, in the time of Jesus, the Jews had no authority to render a death penalty, let alone carry it out. So, the Jews did not crucify Jesus.
Third, nowhere in these verses does it say that everyone “who hangs on a tree” is cursed.
What it does say is that a human being who was crucified is a blasphemy and a defilement of the land.
Why is this a blasphemy? Because mankind in made in God’s image and the Children of Israel are God’s children.
There is no mention of a curse upon a human in these verses. Therefore, Galatians 3:13 is a made-up connection to a portion of a verse that does not even exist.
The law is not a curse.
If the law is a “curse” then why was it still practiced after Jesus’ death?
Acts 21:26: Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having been purified with them, entered the temple to announce the expiration of the days of purification, at which time an offering should be made for each one of them.
